This position is designed for the individual seeking research, clinical and interpersonal experience in preparation for application to professional school.  This position is devoted 50% to medical scribing in the hand surgery clinic, and 50% to research within the hand surgery section.  The research and medical scribe activities will be with the same or similar faculty.

Scribe: Duties include recording history, physical exam, and other datapoints under the supervision of the attending physician.

Research Assistant: Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator, assists with research design, execution, analysis and presentation. Authorship level contribution to research studies is expected. Assist with maintaining compliance with guidelines set by governing agencies and institutional policy.

This position will be assigned to support function for greater than minimal risk studies that also include a Clinical Research Coordinator or Clinical Research Nurse.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Three (3) years experience in clinical research may be substituted for education. 

Experience: 1 year in healthcare or research preferred.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: IATA required with hire. 

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Personal motivation for a professional career in medicine is required. The applicant is expected to be motivated to build their pre-professional clinical experience, research productivity and professional relationships.   Technical skills required include excellent computer skills, strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet environment. Strong organization and communication skills are required.
