How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

Surgical 1st Assist Lead position covering Roanoke and CNRV.  Working directly with APP Manager.  Role will 75% clinical (OR/Clinic) and 25% administrative responsibilities to include payroll, orientation planning, participates in performance reviews, improvement discussions/follow-ups, and staff development.  Will assist in leading the APP Governance Council to include facilitating meetings and project management.  Will assist in the development and operation of the APP Fellowship.

What We Require:


Education: Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program (PA) or Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program (NP).

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience preferred. First Assist experience preferred. Additional experience may be required for some specialties.

Licensure/Certification: Current state Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) license, Physician Assistant State License, NCCPA, and DEA required. AHA BLS-HCP, ACLS, and ATLS required.

Other: Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine. Meets credentialing requirements. Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication, problem-solving, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems and programs such as electronic medical records. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier.
