Duties are clinical in nature.   QA/QC of imaging equipment for Virginia Dept Health and ACR as needed.   Some Radiation Safety duties.   Supports Radiology/Imaging/RadSafety departments. Works with 1 other diagnostic physicist/RSO.   

The Physics Department consists of 2 diagnostic physicists, 2 therapy physicists, 2 physics technologists, 3 dosimetrists, and 2 in-house engineers.  The workload is spread over a hospital system which consists of 6 smaller outlying hospitals, and many smaller individual clinics.   The majority of work is performed within the main campus, but travel is required to other facilities (~25%).

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Masters/Doctorate in Radiological Physics or appropriately related field required.

Experience:  A minimum of 5 years experience as a diagnostic imaging physicist  is required.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration:  Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiological Physics, or an equivalent certification by the American Board of Medical Physics in the necessary specialty as appropriate. 

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and teamwork skills required. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position.
