We are seeking a full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Trauma Services team!


The Clinical Nurse Specialist for Trauma Services provides clinical expertise that supports the advancement of nursing practice and continuous quality improvement for trauma patients. Emphasizing service excellence, patient and staff safety and evidence based practice, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides leadership and resources that promote the following:

• Improved patient outcomes.
• Timely clinical consultation and communication of clinical issues at all levels.

• Effective interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration and service coordination.
• Promotion of current care standards, policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols, etc. that enhance the care of patients.
• Application of clinical research, evidence based practice and best practice findings in education and coaching/mentoring of staff and students.
• Participates on assigned hospital, system, and medical committees.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of School of Professional Nursing. MSN required.
 

Experience: Minimum of five years recent trauma critical care nursing experience with responsibilities reflecting direct patient care, teaching and research. Experience in championing healthcare performance improvement and research projects required. Experience in public speaking and teaching required.
 

Licensure/Certification: Current nursing licensure and specialty certification such as CEN, CCRN, TCRN or ACTN from the Commonwealth of Virginia required within 6 months of hire. Current BLS required.
 

Other: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-directed. Team player. Able to think globally. Must be current in BLS. Completion of either TNCC, TCAR or ACTN required within six months of hire. Prehospital experience helpful. Initiatives in quality and teaching as a champion or leader.
