The Lead Retail Pharmacist provides Pharmaceutical Care to patients of all ages providing quality distributive and clinical services in a time frame that meets each individual patient’s needs.  The Lead Retail Pharmacist assumes lead responsibilities for support staff and provide direction to them.  Additionally, the Lead Pharmacists assume leadership responsibilities for professional staff.

Minimum Qualifications


The Pharmacist must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).

BS degree required, Pharmacy Residency (ASHP) or training beyond the BS degree (for example: a PharmD, MBA, or MS degree) is preferred.



Three years retail pharmacy experience is required. Experience with Qs/1, Beacon TCGrx, and ASB required


Licensure, certification, and/or registration:       

Licensed to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia.




Other Minimum Qualifications:

Must be knowledgeable in many aspects of institutional pharmacy practice with the ability to know a large number of products (1000-2000) including strengths, dosage forms, indications, and precautions.

Work requires knowledge of general office equipment and procedures, including computer and keyboard skills.

Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.

Must possess good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
