Physician Assistant- Inpatient Rehab

Job Summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia has a Physician Assistant opportunity available in inpatient rehab. You'll become part of the rehab team and work closely with our physicians & advanced care practitioners, therapists and nursing staff to help our patients meet their rehab goals and return home with their loved ones. Work with physicians to manage the patients and complete H&Ps, daily notes, and discharge summaries. You will spend time with the patients and their families to help them understand their illness/injuries and their rehab plan. You will share in weekend and overnight call ( typically 1 week/weekend per month) and will have physician backup on call. Our patients have an interesting mix of rehab diagnoses including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and debility and complex medical issues including renal disease, hypertension, congestive heart failure, diabetes, etc, so you will have the opportunity to maintain your basic medical skills and add new rehab skills too.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.

Experience: Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Virginia Physician Assistants license (PA) required, or must be able to obtain. DEA licensure required.  AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.

Other: Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients and their family members.  Commitment to continued professional development.
