The Vice President, Department of Medicine will be a member of Carilion Clinic's senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer of Carilion Clinic. The VP, Department of Medicine partners with the Chair of Medicine and other leaders in the Department of Medicine, Nursing, departmental VPs, and system leaders in developing high-level strategic initiatives to ensure that the provided quality of care and patient experience, and physician/employee experience, meet the standards that have made Carilion Clinic a leader in healthcare.

The successful candidate will have a track record of developing and implementing proactive strategic initiatives and integrated approaches to ensure positive patient outcomes as measured by key performance indicators. The candidate must have the ability to articulate strategic vision and influence others through consensus building and collaborative leadership. Additional qualifications include experienced leadership of inpatient nursing units and outpatient clinics with superior analytical, interpersonal, communication (oral and written) skills. The candidate will also have a proven capacity for building credibility, and role modeling collegiality and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including physicians and executives. The applicant must have great attention to detail and be able to manage the budgetary, along with our financial staff and leaders, and other operational aspects of the department. Established performance in positioning services in optimal markets and locations for strategic service line growth is desirable. Experience in mentorship, facilitation, multi-disciplinary team building, and conflict resolution skills are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications include: Registered Nurse with Master's degree and seven (7) years of demonstrated progressively responsible leadership experience in healthcare roles.
