Job Summary

Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) is seeking an experienced leader for their Cardiology Director position with direct support over the Cardiac Cath Lab. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a proven record of successful leadership of an inpatient department and direct reports. Cardiology leadership is preferred. This position will support Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Provides leadership for and monitors operational goals, objectives and budgets for multiple similar departments.  Responsibilities include planning of budget, monitoring of revenues, patient care indicators and managing operating costs. Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting staff to ensure that goals, objectives, and budgets are met. Works cooperatively with other hospital leaders to carry out and monitor new health care services and performance improvement initiatives.  Positively and appropriately represents both New River Valley and Carilion Clinic at public and professional meetings.

Minimum Qualifications


Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.


Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in a leadership or management experience in cardiology required, preferably in a program offering interventional cardiology services.


Licensure/Certification: Licensure and/or certification in medical or management related discipline.


Other: Leadership, planning and organizational skills to manage multiple departments and to direct the successful completion of initiatives and achievement of fiscal goals. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication abilities to support and promote a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. Proven skills in clinical, operational and human resource management, including staffing, planning, performance management, team work and process improvement. Responsiblefor overall operational management, personnel management, financial management, qualityimprovement initiatives, marketing promotion, business development and strategic planning of Cardiovascular Services.
