Job Summary
Carilion Clinic is seeking a Physician Assistant with a strong interest in Urology to join our team in Christiansburg, Virginia, in providing high quality care to the communities we serve. This position will give you the opportunity to work with four highly-skilled urologists and four other Advanced Care Providers who also exhibit an outstanding level of care for their patients. Previous experience in urology, emergency department and/or family medicine encouraged. Hours: 8 - 5, however we are open to a flexible schedule if desired. Some first call may be included as part of the position, based on candidate interest and training. Position based out of Christiansburg clinic but may work in satellite clinics and hospital as needed.
The Medical Specialty Physician Assistant has advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient’s health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
Experience: Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred
Licensure/Certification: Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.
Other: Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients and their family members. Commitment to continued professional development.
