This position is located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA.
 

About St. Albans:

The St. Albans Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center has a long a rich history serving patients in our community.  We are a 36 bed locked unit staffed with 24 hour coverage.  Our patients are admitted from all over the state of Virginia and we treat all psychiatric illnesses including substance abuse, depression, and schizophrenia. We have social workers, nurses, recreational therapists, doctors and a pharmacist on site. In addition to medication therapy we provide group and recreation therapy.



This position will support Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities.  As a part of the healthcare team, assumes primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized for patients of all ages. Utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborated approach to patient care.  Assists in facilitation of the admission, transfer, and discharge processes.

Minimum Qualifications


Education: Graduate of accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.


Experience: Minimum 2 years acute care.


Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA-BLS-ACLS certification required.


Other: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service skills; must demonstrate positive leadership role modeling and problem resolution skills. Knowledgeable of basic computer and phone applications. Must successfully complete orientation and maintain requirements. Position requires lifting and long periods of standing bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, etc. May be exposed to infectious diseases, bio-hazard and hazardous materials including regulated wastes, and combative patients.
