This position will be based out of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, but will have oversight of Carilion Giles Community Hospital and Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital Respiratory Therapy departments.

Ideal candidates for the Respiratory Director - Western Region will possess: Effective interpersonal communication (written and verbal); organizational and teamwork skills are required. Ability to function independently and utilize various computer programs (i.e. Excel, Word and Access). Active membership in professional organization (AARC) preferred. 

Job responsibilities include: develops and implements actionable work plans with measurable outcome. Application of key financial concepts and analysis to decision making. Continually assesses and reallocates resources to meet demands. Manages multiple departments as well as designated administrative and support staff to assure cost effectiveness and achievement of goals and budgets. Holds self and team accountable for maintaining the highest possible performance standards in order to serve a diverse group of customers (patients, employees, physicians, colleagues). Promotes the effective and timely delivery of high-quality patient-centered services. Recognizes and acts on opportunities for growth and improvement to advance goals of the organization. Utilizes project management principles to accomplish goals, seeks out appropriate resources, and proactively anticipates change within area of responsibility.  Aligns departments with the Mission & Vision of the organization. Translates goals into department specific objectives and priorities. Inspires enthusiasm and builds support for projects.  Attracts, selects, develops, and retains qualified employees, and is effective in utilizing developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities. Responsible for compliance with applicable regulatory, licensure and accrediting standards where applicable (JCAHO etc).. May perform patient care procedures for patients of all ages. Provides direction to respiratory and neurodiagnostic staff in patient care clinical units and/or service areas, at CNRV.  Oversees Manager/Supervisors for CGCH and CTCH. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation yearly for position.  

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in clinical or business-related field required.  Graduate of accredited Respiratory Care program required.

Experience: 3-5 years of clinical respiratory care experience; 5-7 years experience in appropriate health care management, including experience dealing with vendors, purchasing programs, multiple cost centers and multi-level programs.

License, Certification, and/or Registration: VA Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner and Registered (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent analytical, financial, problem solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting and work competency skills at current level of practice.  Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills.
