How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
Velocity Care provides walk-in medical services for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. Hours of operation are Monday- Sunday, 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. Position is for the Lexington region. Other VC sites in other regions may be required as needed for business and patient care needs. Schedule flexibility required. EOW and rotating holidays required. A combination of 12/10/8 hour shifts will be required for this exempt full time position. Weekend/Evening/Holiday coverage will be required. Urgent Care experience highly desired. Emergency or other ambulatory experience preferred. Successful candidate should have a history of delivering outstanding patient care, and a demonstrated dedication to providing an excellent patient and family experience.
The Medical Specialty Physician Assistant has advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient’s health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.
What We Require:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
Experience: Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred
Licensure/Certification: Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.
Other: Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients and their family members. Commitment to continued professional development.
