 IT Applications Analysts are a key part of the Carilion Clinic family. They are responsible for performing application system analysis and design to include requirements, specifications, configuration, documentation, testing, and implementation of systems. Will also be involved in providing application support, troubleshooting, training and reporting activities. Serves as a liaison between TSG groups, clients and vendors.

Conducts analysis of application design including but not limited to planning implementations and maximizing application benefits. Develops working knowledge of assigned applications and related development and maintenance tools. Assists with resolution of issues, tracks issues and provides updates to peers, leadership and clients with minimum supervision. 

Serves as a resource for applications/systems support. Assists with implementation of new applications. Develops supporting documentation. This position will have contact with both external and internal customers and is expected to work in a professional manner. The duties performed by this position may have an organization wide effect and allow access to confidential information related to both patients and staff. Incumbents of this position will be required to make timely, effective decisions using independent judgment and discretion within the appropriate guidelines defined by leadership. Must be able to work in a matrixed environment and understand Bimodal work principle.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school degree required. Associates/Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare, business, or equivalent experience required.

Experience: Minimum of three years of related experience.

Candidate should possess a working knowledge of multiple regulatory reporting programs including - but not limited to Promoting Interoperability (formerly known as MU), MU Stage 3, Inpatient Quality Reporting, MIPS/MACRA and quality measure reporting to the Joint Commission. In addition, the ideal candidate should be familiar with the build, mapping and reporting capabilities within Epic.

•             Epic Clindoc and/or Epic Ambulatory build experience

•             Ability to understand the intricacies of multiple programs and provide technical expertise throughout each programs life cycle.

•             Collaborate with program owners and stakeholders in Epic configuration decisions that impact reporting.

•             Provide critical examination and interpretation of regulations.

•             Provide ongoing support and review of regulatory program changes and performance.

Licensure/Certification: Valid Virginia drivers' license required.  Vendor and/or industry certifications/proficiencies as determined by management.

Epic Clindoc or Epic Ambulatory Certification preferred.  Must acquire within 6 months of employment.

  • Must be flexible and capable of prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
  • Primary business hours Monday-Friday including some weekends, holidays.
  • Will require after-hours on-call coverage
  • Occasional travel required.
