Job Summary

Carilion Clinic - Technology Services Group (TSG) is seeking an Epic Security Application Analyst IV in Roanoke, VA. You will serve as a resource for the EPIC applications security team and assist with implementation of new applications & develop supporting documentation. Working alongside our Epic Security Coordinator family you will  develop and applying expertise in Epic security disciplines that support Carilion Clinic’s Epic Security infrastructure. Jobs in this family are responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, installing, and/or deploying technologies. In addition, they are responsible for the establishment, development, and promotion of standard architectures, as well as hardware and software components.

Duties and Responsibilities include: 

  • Incident handling; security and risk assessments; threat mitigation; patch management; Access management to include Epic account and password management, resource access policy and design, information access controls, design and implementation.
  • The collation and reporting of Epic security event information, including incident, response and resolution duties; and the production of monthly management and exception reports.
  • Provide Epic security services to other teams and/or customers regarding the security of technologies and the application of Epic security to industry and/or business standards.

Other disciplines include; ability to communicate Epic security technical concepts to a non-technical audience, project multi-tasking; mentoring junior staff; and leading security team in the performance of their assigned disciplines. Minimum Qualifications

Essential Functions Of The Job:

  • Assists with regular Security activities such as the execution of Epic Security audits, user provisioning in selected non-Epic IS applications, and maintenance of SER (Provider/Scheduled Resource) database.
  • Collaborates directly with all Epic application teams to monitor and maintain operational configurations of Epic Security configuration for efficient and appropriate operations, in accordance with company policy and all applicable laws, implementing adjustments as necessary, under the direction of Epic Security Leadership.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate end-user references, job aids, and tip sheets using standardized tools and templates expressing ideas clearly utilizing language and terminology that is understandable for the read.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare, business or equivalent experience required. 

Experience: Minimum of five years of related experience.

LIcenses/Certifications:  Valid Virginia drivers' license required.  Vendor and/or industry certifications/proficiencies as determined by management.

  • Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
  • Primary business hours Monday-Friday including some weekends, holidays.
  • Will require after-hours on-call coverage
  • Occasional travel required.
