Application Analyst III-Lab/Cardio

Job Summary

Serves as a resource for multiple applications/systems. Assists with implementation of new applications as assigned to include end user system development utilizing standard tools and detailed specifications. Develops documentation related to building activities. Assumes a mentor role in the department and serves as a project lead on implementations. Responsible for making timely, effective decisions in relation to assigned projects. This position will have contact with both external and internal customers and is expected to work in a professional manner. 

Experience installing, implementing, configuring, troubleshooting, and coordinating vendor activities on Clinical Laboratory or Cardiovascular applications is required. A thorough understanding of HL7 or DICOM is required. An understanding of the use of APIs to integrate applications and use of VNA as a storage approach is a plus. Experience with area orders and results flows with EHRs is required. Experience troubleshooting multiple integrated clinical applications with EHRs is required. Six years of application analyst experience maintaining and supporting Laboratory and Cardiovascular clinical applications or a combination of actual clinical experience and application analyst experience in those applications is highly preffered. Experience working in an agile methodology is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare, business or equivalent experience required. 

Experience: Minimum of five years of related experience.

LIcenses/Certifications:  Valid Virginia drivers' license required.  Vendor and/or industry certifications/proficiencies as determined by management.

  • Must be a self-initiated team player that can work under little supervision, with strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting and serve as a mentor to others in the department.
  • Must facilitate a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Must be flexible and capable of prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
  • Primary business hours Monday-Friday including some weekends, holidays.
  • Will require after-hours on-call coverage
  • Occasional travel required.
