Job Summary


The Clinical Informatics based Business Analyst has organization-wide responsibility for workflow processes impacted by Clinical Technology across disciplines/clinical departments. Will lead / participate in implementing large clinical process change initiatives across the clinical setting in ambulatory, outpatient, therapeutic, diagnostic and inpatient departments.  Responsible for performing advanced application system analysis and design to include requirements, specifications, configuration, documentation, testing, and implementation of system. Will also be involved in providing application support, troubleshooting, support training needs and reporting/analytics activities. Serves as a primary liaison/resource about clinical workflows and technology between TSG groups, Education, clients and vendors.
 

  • Elicits business needs from business leaders and users.  Maintains a professional relationship with business functions served and proactively identifies needs and opportunities. 
  • Analyzes business needs relative to application assets and capabilities to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Manages business requirements. Logically organizes requirements to deliver applications and bundled application functions as upgrades and releases.
  • Designs high-level application solutions to meet business needs. Presents conceptual solutions optimized for reuse of data and interoperability of BI solutions while supporting standards and demonstrating flexibility when required.
  • Writes detailed solution specifications to high-level solution designs conveying business needs and functional requirements to be translated into detailed designs.
  • Works closely with Data Modelers, ETL Developers and BI Developers ensuring solutions meet specifications.
  • Manages project schedules, resources and vendors completing projects within scope, schedule and budget.
  • Manages business acceptance of application deliverables and solutions. Oversees user acceptance testing coordinating development, execution and documentation of test cases.  
  • Manages implementation and integration of solutions ensuring all elements are planned, communicated and executed.
  • Adheres to Change Management policies and processes to include timely reporting of all pertinent change information, effective discussion of the changes, internal and external communications, contingency planning, support of the change event and post-change reporting.
  • Provides tier-one support to business users in their daily use of BI solutions and coordinates with team members for tier two technical support and issue resolution. Demonstrates logical analysis, effective troubleshooting, issue tracking and communication. Coordinates cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Represents business needs to Governance.
  • Trains end-users and mentors and develops team members.  Develops, coordinates and oversees development of training programs and materials.

Minimum Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, health care business  or eight (8) years equivalent experience required.  Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum:  6+ years of relevant experience required.
Minimum:  3-5 years working with Epic EMR in application design and support role.    
Experience managing technical service delivery relationships.  Experience translating business needs into designs and specifications including detailed workflow process in the overall process redesign initiative.  Experience leading/ coordinating  small scale projects, testing and quality control.  Experience supporting application users and they interact with EMR while providing care. Experience Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Office, Project, Visio, SharePoint


Preferred:  Healthcare Information Technology and Industry knowledge. Epic Certifications 

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Maintain application vendor certifications as needed. Valid VA driver’s license. Preferred certifications:  ITIL V3, CBAP, CBIP, CDMP, DGSP, PMP.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Strong listening skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrating proper business use of grammar and punctuation. Strong presentation skills clearly conveying information, ideas, concepts, and instructions to a variety of audiences. Meeting management skills including agendas, facilitation, minutes and time management. Negotiation skills to resolve conflict and build cooperation.
