Job Summary

 

Develops a detailed knowledge of the underlying data and business intelligence products and become the subject matter expert on content, current and potential future uses of data, and the quality and interrelationship between core elements of the data repository and business intelligence products.  Consults with information technology, data analytics, product creation and development staff to design and implement scripts, programs, software components and analyses that will support product quality and an in depth understanding of potential uses of the data.  The Business Intelligence Architect has business responsibility for determining the information the enterprise needs to capture, retain and exploit.

 

  • Performs a key management and thought leadership role in the areas of advanced data techniques, including data modeling, data access, data integration, data visualization, text mining, data discovery, statistical methods, database design and implementation.
  • Defines and achieves the analytics strategy roadmap for the enterprise; including data modeling, implementation and data management for our advanced data analytics systems.
  • Responsibilities will include setting the vision, gathering requirements, gaining business consensus, performing vendor and product evaluations, mentoring business and development resources, deliver training solutions, training and documentation.
  • Establishes standards and guidelines for the design & development, tuning, deployment and maintenance of information, advanced data analytics, and text mining models and physical data persistence technologies. 
  • Provides leadership in establishing analytic environments required for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.  Proven track record to drive rapid prototyping and design for new projects and analytic R&D environments.  Ability to translate broader business initiatives into clear team objectives and concrete individual goals, aligning appropriately with other groups for efficient, coordinated action.
  • Draws conclusions and effectively communicates findings with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Works with staff and customers to understand the business requirements and business processes.
  • Utilizes advanced data analysis, including statistical analysis, datamining techniques, and use of computational packages such as SAS, R or SPSS.
  • Creates discover-access-distill (" DAD") strategies to bring significant value data understanding.
  • Frames and conducts complex analyses and experiments using various statistical techniques.
  • Participates in Business Intelligence projects and works with analytical group and IT to ensure implementation using both Agile and Waterfall methods.
  • Develops specific metrics for quality and consistency reviews of data across clinical procedure codes and geographic areas.

 

Functions as a hands-on analyst, technologist and architect who has deep experience in Information Management, Data Warehousing and Analytics technologies to provide tactical and strategic direction in the areas of business intelligence analytics, data mining and visualization, and assessment of data quality and consistency across platforms, products, and geographical areas. 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education:          

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, mathematics, industrial engineering, or health care systems or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience:       

Minimum ten years’ experience in IT and business/industry work experience including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations.

Extensive expertise in Business Intelligence platforms such as Microsoft Power BI and Tableau, as well as data modeling, both logical and physical, as well as in multidimensional data modeling, such as star schemas, snowflakes, normalized and de-normalize d models, handling "slow-c hanging" dimensions/attributes.

 

Licensure, certification, and/or registration:       

Valid Virginia drivers' license and dependable transportation.

TOGAF 9 Certified preferred

Power BI Certified preferred

Tableau Certified preferred

               

Other Minimum Qualifications:

Good organizational skills, analytical, dependable, detail oriented, interpersonal skills, and understanding of the English language (both written and oral).  Must have thorough understanding of the 7-layer OSI model.  Must have working experience and understanding of Enterprise Architecture best practices frameworks and standards.  Must have working knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture, business re-engineering principles and processes and basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting.  Experience with SQL, VB.Net, Asp.Net, XML, HTML, HL7, PACS, application servers/ portal servers, clinical monitoring systems, drug distribution systems preferred.  Must have excellent
