The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) is seeking a dedicated Clinical Research Coordinator to support primary research projects essential for student graduation. This role is pivotal in guiding medical students through their research journeys, from hypothesis development to project approval.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with students and mentors to develop novel research hypotheses.
Assess the feasibility of projects in partnership with Carilion Clinic.
Provide initial training and ongoing support to medical students, balancing their academic and research commitments.
Assist in the approval process for research projects.
Clearly communicate expectations and tasks to students.
Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure progress and address any concerns.
Encourage open communication between students and their mentors to foster a supportive research environment.
Build and maintain strong relationships with students, offering compassion and understanding for their diverse responsibilities.
Offer supervision and guidance to a clinical research assistant.

What We Require:
Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in Science or a related field required. Three (3) years experience in clinical research may be substituted for education.
Experience: 1 year in healthcare or research preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:
IATA required with hire.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent computer skills; strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet environment. Knowledge of medical and/or pharmaceutical terminology strongly desired. Strong organization and communication skills required. Able to work with multiple interruptions and to perform multiple tasks at any given time.
