Clinical Research Nurse - Gynecologic Oncology

Job Summary

This position supports the Department of OB/GYN, specifically with Gynecologic Oncology trial management. The candidate will coordinate investigator-initiated, cooperative group, and industry-sponsored research studies. Basic responsibilities include: research subject visit management, operational management of active protocols, and any other research-related duties, as necessary. Under the supervision of Research and Development and the Department of OB/GYN, this position is charged with maintaining compliance with study protocols, guidelines set by governing agencies, and institutional policy.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate Nursing Degree required; Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience: 1 year direct patient care required; one year of clinical research experience preferred.

Licensure/Certifications/Registration: License or certification specific to the discipline according to Virginia requirements. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia preferred. I.A.T.A. (International Air Transport Association) certification is required for projects that will be transporting specimens prior to completion of IRB application.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology.  Working knowledge of the disease/condition under study, the clinical trial process and good clinical practices.  Familiarity with federal regulations and the Good Clinical Practices governing clinical research preferred.  Must be competent in word processing and spreadsheets.  Proficient with data base management systems.  Must have effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.  Must be self-directed and excel in attention to detail.  Must use good judgment with regard to priorities and deadlines.
