Job Summary

The Invasive Coding Analyst for the Cardiovascular Institute is a hybrid remote work opportunity with schedule flexibility and some onsite meetings and training in Roanoke, Virginia. The position is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation in order to accurately code supply and implant charges and CPT procedure codes for Cath Lab and EP Lab procedures. The job duties of the Invasive Coding Analyst include, but are not limited to:

· Extracts information from clinical documentation to identify correct CPT procedure codes

· Consults with providers to improve or clarify clinical documentation for accurate and compliant procedure coding

· Assists in identifying opportunities and developing solutions to reduce denials and re-work

· Has an option to attend clinical procedures to gain a better understanding of the procedure to help ensure accurate coding and billing

· Works with the Cardiovascular Informatics team to update supply and implant charges within the EMR

· Assists in providing education to clinical providers

· Works independently

· PFO and ASD closure

· Multiple Cardiovascular clinical trials


Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School education required; college degree preferred.  Medical Terminology and Physiology and Anatomy required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated proficiency in Ambulatory (CPT) coding required.  Inpatient coding experience is also beneficial, but not required.  Previous Charge master experience preferred.  Will consider registered technologist, LPN, or RN, with prior CDM coding experience (contingent upon agreement to obtain Coding Certification.

Licensure/certification: RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CPC, or CPC-H Required
