Job Summary

Come join our team as the Director of our Communications Center.  The Carilion Clinic Communications Center provides a broad array of services including emergency ambulance and helicopter dispatching, flight following, and non-emergency ambulance transport scheduling.  The Communications Center is an integral part of the Carilion Clinic Operations Control Center working in tandem with the Transfer Center to coordinate air and ground resources and promote system throughput.  Carilion Clinic Patient Transportation operates six ground ambulance bases and one primary EMS/911 base in Southwest Virginia.  Helicopter EMS services are provided from one of our three flight bases.  The Communications Center is co-located with the Carilion Transfer Center in Roanoke, VA.  This state-of-the art Operations Center was designed to maximize collaboration, communication, and efficiency. 

 

We pride ourselves in putting the Carilion Clinic values in action.  The Communications Center is at the hub of our commitment to provide safe and effective medical transportation to the community.  In addition to leading the Communications Center on the path to service excellence, this position assumes primary responsibility for leading and executing business development strategies, enhancing revenue recovery, managing contractual payor relationships, and facilitating service recovery when needed.  The Communications Center Director reports to the CCPT senior director, along with the Ground/EMS Director and the Flight Program Director.  Additionally, this position will work closely with the Transfer Center director to ensure the alignment of system goals and strategies within the Operations Center.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Master’s Degree in industry related subject (MBA, MPH, MES, MSN, etc.) required.

Experience:

5 years of emergency transport experience required.  2-3 years of supervisory experience in medical transport include air, ground, and communications required.   

Licensure,

certification, and/or

registration:

Nationally Registered Paramedic or Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state of Virginia required.  Certification as Medical Transport Executive (CMTE) is preferred. 

 

Additional certifications required upon hire :

AHA BLS – HCP, ACLS, PALS, NRP, PHTLS, ATLS

Other Minimum

Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with physicians, patients, vendors, and employees. Ability to manage and motivate employees within the environment.  Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting, and work competency skills.  Advanced computer skills required.
