Data Analyst I - Mortality Program

Job Summary
Applies technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support data needs related to Carilion Clinics’ all-cause Mortality Management Program. Subject matter expert on the primary internal and external mortality metric data sources, working closely with technical resources and key vendors (such as Vizient) to ensure accuracy and consistency of mortality-related data definitions. Reports to the Program Manager in supporting the Mortality Management Program’s data needs and assists with program governance within CAPS and with clinical stakeholders.
1. Manage multiple, variable tasks and data review processes to support data requests with minimal supervision.
2. Analyzes and advises management of any data integrity problems and offers recommendations on resolution.
3. Supports development of the quality data dictionary and business glossary with agreed upon terms, metadata, definitions, descriptions, and related values.
4. Develops reference materials for supported data and may deliver training online or in-person for CAPS or other Carilion staff with minimal supervision.
5. Manages assigned projects and meets agreed-upon deadlines as negotiated with supervisor and/or manager.
6. Interfaces with clients, vendors, and other teams on multi-faceted projects involving mortality data intelligence.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, health care systems or related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Experience: Minimum four years’ experience working with internal and external data sources and analytical tools. Strong knowledge of quality measures and publicly reported data in healthcare environment.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Valid Virginia drivers' license and dependable transportation. One or more of the following certifications preferred: Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP
Other Minimum Qualifications: Good organizational skills, analytical, dependable, detail oriented, interpersonal skills, and understanding of the English language (both written and oral). Data profiling and data quality analysis experience preferred. Experience supporting user data needs. Experience with Vizient Clinical Database required. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be customer service oriented
