This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining a CNA program in a partnership with Carilion Clinic and Roanoke County Public Schools. 

In this role, the HR Education Consultant- RN will:

  1.  Establish and teach a certified nursing assistant course to Roanoke County Public Schools high school students
  2. Organize and maintain classroom, laboratory, equipment and student records
  3. Screen student applicants according to state regulations during the CNA course registration process
  4. Assist with the application and approval process for the CNA course from the Virginia Board of Nursing
  5. Assist students with coordination of dual enrollment process with Virginia Western Community College
  6. Organize, develop, and coordinate classroom and clinical activities that enable students enrolled in the program to earn certifications (like BLS, CNA certification and others) that are pertinent to the healthcare industry
  7. Create a classroom that is conducive to learning
  8. Assess the accomplishments of RCPS high school students participating in the CNA course on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
  9. Maintain open communication with RCPS school administration to ensure success of students and program

Current plans are for this role to transition to full-time starting in October, 2018.  

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: Two years experience as a Registered Nurse within the previous five years.  One year experience in the provision of long-term care or one year previous teaching experience in a nurse aide education program or supervising nursing students in a nursing facility.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration:  Currently licensed as an RN in Virginia. 

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Must possess excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. Demonstrated analytical thinking and interpersonal skills. Must work well in a team environment and have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Lawson knowledge preferred. Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to work on multiple tasks/projects while meeting deadlines and being flexible in an environment of changing priorities.
