HR Nurse Educator

Job Summary

Position will be housed in Roanoke at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Will support 2-3 adult inpatient units with similar patient populations.

Provides education to nursing staff to reinforce basic nursing practice. Works closely with nursing staff on assigned units to meet their just in time learning needs, educate on new equipment/supplies, policies and processes.   Assists with the orientation of new staff members.  Assist staff in developing their critical thinking skills and to grow and develop in their profession. Active member of the unit leadership team to prioritize learning and to improve quality indicators.   Will be visible on the units daily and may require working evenings, nights and weekends depending on the needs of the staff.  Must be self-directed.  If selected for interview, must provide 2 samples of writing examples and provide a 5 minute teach demonstration.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Three years of hospital based adult acute care experience as an RN.  PCU/ICU experience required.  Experience with teaching/presenting preferred.   

Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing - or any bachelor's degree plus a master's degree in nursing required.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Currently licensed as an RN in Virginia.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must have knowledge/experience in nursing principles and theory, skills in applying adult learning principles, assessment and evaluation skills, skills in interpreting complex data, and knowledge of evidence-based nursing. Must work well in a team environment.
