Carilion Innovation (CI) is newly established and set on becoming one of the world’s leading Innovation centers within a healthcare system. Our metrics center on tangibly improving the health of our community through growing and establishing startups, as well as creating next-gen products and services.

 

The Innovation Manager will have the unique opportunity to vanguard and own the Proof of Concept Program (POCP). The POCP is based on Design Thinking, Lean Startup methodologies, and Agile development. The Manager will work with Carilion Innovators and their promising commercializable inventions to co-create scoped Projects (i.e. Build-Measure-Learn sprints); advise and inform the strategy, design, planning, procurement, development, and implementation of these Projects; and track the learnings to determine how to move forward.

 

The Manager will also leverage invention-tracking software as part of their efforts, create dashboards for reporting progress, and improve the POCP. The Manager, as an innovation expert, will also create and manage events and marketing to promote and educate the community on growing innovations.

 

Ideal candidates can easily shift and ensure continuity between vision, strategy, execution, and metrics; are confident, down-to-earth, intellectually curious and thrilled at executing; and know when to use their instincts and when to be data-driven. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or 8 years equivalent experience.

Experience:
Experience in commercializing intellectual property and tech transfer in health care and related environments.
Experience using Design Thinking, Lean Startup methodologies, and Agile development.
Minimum of five (5) years leadership or healthcare equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of four (4) years experience in Project Management, or recent demonstrated project success of a Carilion multi-department leadership project.

Licensure/Certification: Certification in project management preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong presentation skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet computer software and data analysis.
Must satisfactorily complete orientation processes.
