Intern, Human Factors

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

The Carilion Clinic Human Factors Department Internship will be 20-40 hours per week. The intern will support one or more experienced Carilion Clinic Human Factors staff members in performance of assessments, analysis and reporting, and research of applied Human Factors in Healthcare, as well as experience the day-to-day involvement of our staff in improving the care we deliver to our patients.

Primary Responsibilities include the following:

· literature reviews

· observations

· data collection

· running participants through study

· data cleaning, analysis

· low and high level software and hardware prototyping

· interviewing SMEs

· data exploration

· rapid usability assessments

· report and presentation of findings

What We Require:

Education: Typically a junior-senior level undergraduate student or student in a Master's degree program.  CS, ID, ISE, Psychology Student / Masters / PhD

Experience: Healthcare experience preferred; curiosity required

Other Minimum Qualifications: Meets basic requirements for visiting student at Carilion Clinic. Must be able to travel to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital/VTCSOM/Center for Simulation, Research and Patient Safety Roanoke Campus.
