Medical Auditor - ED Medical Audit

Job Summary



This position will support Carilion's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Will conduct chart audits. The audit process consists of reviewing documentation in the patient’s record regarding orders, medications, supplies used and procedures performed and ensuring that all have been charged appropriately.  Makes adjustments to the patient's account either adding or removing charges as supported by documentation. Conducts education sessions one on one or with groups to improve charging accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications


Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent 4 years experience required and/or clinical/coding certification preferred. 


Experience: Two years’ experience in a hospital or clinic/physician ambulatory site, or prior billing/audit/compliance experience.


License certification and/or registration:  None.


Life Support:  N/A


Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to converse with staff, and department heads. Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills.  Must be self-motivated. Experience in word processing and spreadsheets required.
