Mobility Technician - Cardiac Flex Team - PT

**This position is located at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital**

The Cardiac Flex Team is a 20-bed adult unit. Our patient population consists of patients with heart disease and/or patients who have medical or surgical interventions to improve their heart functions.  The average length of stay for our patient is 3-5 days.  The Nursing Assistant patient ratio is 1 NA to 6-7 patients on the 7a-3p shift and then from 3p-7am it will be 1 NA to 10 patients.  Some of the Nursing Assistant functions include taking the patient’s blood pressure, temperature and checking oxygen levels, as well as assisting the patients with bathing, meals, toileting, ambulation and taking care of their needs. Nursing Assistants also may be assigned to any one of five Cardio/Thoracic units to help with patient care.

This position is regular part time, working the day shift during the weekend

• Provides direct Early Mobility care and delegated tasks as assigned, completing work accurately, safely and in a timely manner
• Participates in team meetings providing patient progress
• Follows the plan of care directives
• Participates in QA  programs related to function
• Performs vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen level before activity begins or other mobility care prior to ambulation. Incorporates monitoring equipment during activity session as instructed and reports needs to supervising nurse, CTL, Charge Nurse, or Director
• Initiates Coordination/schedule mobility plan with nursing to allow successful completion of activity sessions.  Utilizes knowledge of patient’s schedule such as dialysis, tests, and procedures when coordinating mobility plan
• Understands the duties of the  Early Mobility Program and assists with interpreting and providing orientation and ongoing education to staff
• Documents in patients electronic medical record using daily note format.  
• Executes effective time management skills by utilizing walking lists, self-scheduling effectively, and meeting productivity expectations
