Job Summary

Performs specimen collection, physician office laboratory procedures, clerical duties and maintains quality working environment.
- Performs physician office laboratory testing following prescribed methods within the scope of training. Must be able to maintain laboratory without close supervision.
- Obtains blood by fingerstick and phlebotomy. Observes safety regulations and universal precautions in collection, processing, and disposal of laboratory specimens.
- Prepares blood and other body fluids for testing and shipment as appropriate. Will perform waived and other testing on site based upon equipment available and one's documented level of competency. Will prepare other samples for shipping to reference laboratories. All specimens for referral are properly labeled and accompanied by proper documentation.
- Performs and documents quality control procedures, preventative maintenance procedures, and reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate person. Maintains required CLIA documents.
- Maintains neat, clean and well stocked work area; assist with ordering, dating, and sorting laboratory supplies.
- Participates in training of clinical staff, x-ray technicians and providers in basic office laboratory procedures.
- Performs certain clerical duties as necessary; these may include, but are not limited to making appointments in the EMR, answering the phone and compiling data for a monthly statistical report.
- Assists nursing personnel in patient care and transport to/from examination rooms, laboratory, x-ray and waiting area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management, or other responsible personnel.
- Maintains competency in all areas of responsibility, in part, by reviewing new and revised guidelines, procedures and policies.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of both a phlebotomy and waive testing certificate programs (available in –house).
Experience: 1 year physician's office laboratory preferred.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: National Phlebotomy certification preferred. AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to work and make decisions on own.
