Nursing Director - Carilion Transfer and Communications Center (CTaC)

Job Summary

Join a fully integrated and centralized hospital command center that is nationally recognized as a pioneer in the industry.  Operational scope includes system bed placement and transfer center, patient transportation communications center, in-house clinical transport team, and centralized remote telemetry and tele-sitter department.

 

Provides leadership for and monitor’s operational goals, objectives, and budgets for multiple departments. Responsibilities include planning of budget, monitoring of revenues, patient care indicators and manages operating costs. Responsibilities include ensuring leadership throughput of unit, patient experience rounding, employee rounding for engagement, quality monitoring of unit, planning of budget and managing expenses.

 

Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting staff to ensure thatgoals and objectives are met. (Quality, Patient Experience, Employee Engagement, and Throughput).

 

Works with other department leaders to carry out new health care services and performance improvement initiatives. Positively and appropriately represents Carilion Clinic at public and professional meetings.

 

May provide direct patient care or assist employees in overall care of patients.

 

  • Works closely with staff, peers and service line management as well as participate in interdepartmental collaboration in the implementation of strategies critical to the success of the service line and organization.
  • Communicates directly with physicians, clinical leaders, senior managers, other departmental personnel, patients and their families.
  • Provides supervision and direction to department staff. Must be versatile and flexible in leadership/management skills and work schedule.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable licensure and accrediting standards.
  • Must have ability to efficiently navigate within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of school of professional nursing.
  • BSN Required; Master’s preferred
     

Experience: Minimum 5 years or equivalent experience in a leadership or management positions in a healthcare environment with a minimum of 3 years clinical and operational expertise.  Transfer Center Operations experience strongly preferred.  Experience with teletracking software preferred.  


Licensure/Certifications/Registration:

  • Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.
  • In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward.
  • Licensure and/or certification in medical or management related discipline preferred.
  • Certified in specific area of focus a plus.
