Minimum Qualifications


Director of Chaplaincy and Clinical Pastoral Education

This position is responsible for the strategy and direction of Carilion Clinic Chaplaincy Services programs and identifies patient and community needs. In addition to providing chaplaincy interventions to patients, family members, and hospital staff, this role also develops and directs education programs and coordinates academic alliances.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university required. Master’s level

Theological degree from an accredited seminary (ATS) or equivalent. Must be Board Certified.

Must be a Certified Educator or Associate Educator Supervisor or Associate Supervisor by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and remain in good standing with that organization.

Experience: Five years in providing pastoral care services and /or clinical supervision in an acute care facility or equivalent preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Supervisor Certification required.

Board Certified Chaplain required

Other: Ordination or denominational endorsement as a minister of that denomination.

Effective interpersonal, communication, management and teamwork skills required. Ability to use Microsoft Office products. Ability to travel to other Carilion sites. Must provide own transportation.
