Job Summary

This is a remote/hybrid position with the ability work remotely 2 days per week. 

Facilitates strategic and business planning functions through a market and data-driven approach. Advises and provides sound recommendations to system and service line leaders. Ensures timely, accurate and consistent information is delivered with regard to projects and system-level initiatives. Stays abreast of current and anticipated changes in both Carilion’s internal and external environment. Maintains a broad knowledge of all planning resources, while specializing in multiple service lines and regions. Mentors and instructs Planning Analyst(s) as needed.

  • Be a trusted advisor for the organization by providing objective, actionable information that initiates informed planning and decision-making. Conducts market research and analysis critical to evaluating and advancing Carilion Clinic’s market position. Identifies and recommends market growth strategies.
  • Responsible for project management, and may assist in leading various strategic initiatives. Activities would include coordinating, planning, and preparing presentation materials for teams and leadership; facilitating meetings; monitoring content and timelines; working to ensure key deadlines and needs are met using collaborative processes.  
  • Understands and aligns with overall organizational goals and objectives; continuously seeks ways to improve processes and develop creative solutions.  
  • Develops and enhances relationships with key stakeholders, actively manages their expectations, provides strategic consultation and monitors satisfaction levels. Generates alliances that promote effective outcomes.
  • Has primary accountability for the success of assigned projects. Collaborates with other planning team members to ensure thorough, thoughtful, accurate and timely additions to project. Successfully directs work of other staff members within scope of influence. Shares information learned to improve the knowledge and performance of others.
  • Serves as a culture and change management champion. Gains support of key stakeholders by educating them on issues and practices, and how they align with overall organizational objectives. 
  • Continuously develops advanced knowledge in designated areas as well as maintains a thorough working knowledge of other planning activities, initiatives and broader organizational priorities. Develops in-depth understanding of assigned service lines to assist in effective organizational strategies. 
  • Identifies areas for personal growth and seeks educational opportunities and experiences to increase knowledge in area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Five to seven years of directly-related experience in healthcare planning and/or business development required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must possess excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. Demonstrated analytical thinking and interpersonal skills. Must work well in a team environment and have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to work on multiple tasks/projects while meeting deadlines and being flexible in an environment of changing priorities.
