This position is for individuals that have been accepted to join a Carilion Clinic Medical Residency or Fellowship Program.

With supervision the Neuropsychologist fellow provides quality testing. assessment and patient care and must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Requires limited supervision by the section designee(s).

 

The work consists of Neuropsychological assessments of patients, using methods which include, but are not limited to, personality and intelligence testing, brief screening for brain impairment, and more extensive neuropsychological testing.

Interprets and reports results of neuropsychological assessments in accordance with Department guidelines for accuracy and timeliness.

Assesses patient's need for nonmedical services; treats accordingly within the parameters of the master treatment plan for each patient and documents interventions; and develops/maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Serves as member of interdisciplinary treatment team, participating in the coordination of the patient's treatment with the attending physician, nursing staff, clinical coordinator, referral source, and/or family.

Works cooperatively with other therapists and supports the process of team building within the department and throughout the organization.

Enhances professional growth by participating in research and educational activities to ensure and promote knowledge in diagnosis and treatment of patients and families.

Adheres to policies and procedures of the Neuropsychological Service Line and Carilion Clinic.

Assists the Administrative Team, Department of Neuropsychological and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation section, in special projects.

What We Require:

Education: Virginia employees: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited graduate school. West Virginia employees: M.A. or M.S. in psychology. Internship at APA accredited internship site and residency in approved clinical setting.

 

Experience: One year clinical experience which may include the year of internship.

 

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: During their two-year residency, fellows will be expected to sit for the written portion of the national licensure examination, the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP).

 

Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with physicians and other health care providers. Must have a commitment to continuing education and research.
