Provides clinical and administrative supervision. Supervises Cardiopulmonary Rehab team to ensure appropriate care is provided to patients while meeting all State, Federal and Joint Commission (TJC) regulatory requirements. Provides a positive, rewarding and service-oriented work environment which supports high-quality patient-centered care, an exceedingly competent and engaged staff and the achievement of fiscal and programmatic goals and objectives.


 

  • Responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the department.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation to include current trends and evidence based programming.
  • Works with departmental Medical Directors to assure program goals and objectives are met.
  • Assists with Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement activities for the Cardiopulmonary Rehab department including those related to the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) accreditation standards.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the standards, laws and regulations mandated by the state, the Joint Commission (TJC), and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Promotes Carilion’s Culture of Excellence and quality service through teamwork, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of patient/customer needs.
  • In coordination and consultation with Carilion management, communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, and problem solves to ensure the success of the Cardiopulmonary Rehab department.
  • Serves as a role model for professional and clinical competence. Assists Manager and/or Director in assuring staff competence.
  • Insures staffing levels are maintained at an adequate level to meet the department requirements. Monitors productivity levels and adjusts staffing accordingly.
  • Inspires enthusiasm and builds support for initiatives/projects. Attracts, selects, develops and retains qualified employees, and is effective in utilizing developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.
  • Conducts monthly documented staff meetings.
  • Facilitates professional growth and development, including the provision of in-service programming and effective performance appraisal processes.    
  • Effectively leads conflict resolution process.  Identifies and resolves customer service issues to ensure the mission, vision and guiding principles of Carilion.
  • Communicates regularly with staff and leadership.
  • Serves as clinical resource for staff and patient care.

What We Require:


Education: RN with a Bachelors Degree OR Exercise Physiologist with a Masters Degree OR RRT with a Bachelors Degree required.  If an RN in a magnet footprint, BSN required. 



Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience working in Cardiopulmonary Rehab, preferably with increasing job responsibilities.



Licensure, certification, and/or registration: RN must be currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Exercise Physiologist must be ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP).    RRT must be licensed as a respiratory care practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine and be certified as an RRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care     All certifications to be maintained ongoing



Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting, organizational and work competency skills.
