Quality Senior Director - Cardiovascular Institute

Job Summary

The Quality Senior Director provides leadership for the achievement of excellence in quality and patient safety within the Cardiovascular Institute. Through effective collaboration and partnerships with CVI, Carilion Clinic, and regional and national colleagues, assures the development of strategic quality initiatives that reflect alignment with Carilion Clinic and CVI goals and evidence-based practice. Drives cultural change to increase engagement in quality-focused work to enhance patient outcomes. Establishes plans to assure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and certification standards.

 

Within area of responsibility, collaborates with senior management, directors, physicians, nursing, allied health staff, patients and vendors internal and external to the health care environment to work through highly complex processes and situations.  Decisions have significant impact on quality of services and care, fiscal results, attainment of goals and development and retention of employees.
•    Performs work in a hospital environment. Appropriate protective measures are required in accordance with employee safety codes.  Potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.  Fast-paced work environment with extreme intensity level due to life and death situations. Frequent travel between Carilion sites for which own transportation must be provided.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field. Master’s degree required.

Experience: Seven years of extensive and progressive administration experience. Minimum of three years’ experience in performance/quality improvement project collaboration, with proven improvements in quality, outcomes and system processes. Previous experience in project management with responsibility for leadership of large projects preferred.


Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certification in quality preferred.


Other Minimum Qualifications: Must satisfactorily complete orientation processes. Demonstrates excellent problem solving, interpersonal, communication, priority setting, organizational and work competency skills. Promotes a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. Maintains a customer-focused philosophy of service delivery. Resolves complex problems and complaints in a high stress environment. Works independently with minimal direction. Demonstrates strong project management amd analytical skills. Works effectively within a "matrix" management environment to facilitate interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrates the ability to develop others in an effort to promote growth of individuals, teams and the organization as a whole. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of Continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet computer software, and data analysis. Demonstrates the ability to build strong teams.
