How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:


Provides leadership, positive process management, staff development, support and technical guidance for Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) functions. Works closely with internal and external business units and corporate functions, focusing on strategic initiatives as well as development and communication of standards relating to system-wide policies, procedures, and training, production and performance goals. Responsible for operational budgets, strategic planning, process analysis, developmental and implementation plans. Coordinates with both internal and external resources to ensure excellence in customer services and data integrity. Ensures adherence to federal, state and local requirements.
 

  • Applies key financial concepts and analysis to decision making. Develops and implements actionable work plans with measurable outcomes. Continually assesses and reallocates resources to meet demands.
  • Responsible for management of operational budget with system-wide accountability. Accountable for cost effective materials management, resource utilization and cost containment.
  • Partners with appropriate resources to develop and communicate standards with respect to system-wide policies, procedures, as well as production and performance goals.
  • Liaison with Facility leadership organization-wide to support RCM service area concepts.
  • As key liaison with clients, Carilion personnel, and external resources, holds self and team accountable for maintaining the highest possible performance standards, professionalism and ethical behavior. 
  • Actively commits to team effort provision for cost effectiveness, service excellence and respect of everyone by demonstrating actions, which support the corporate mission, vision and values, goals and objectives and service standards. 
  • Delivers efficient, consistent and timely services. Recognizes and acts on opportunities for growth and improvement to advance Carilion goals.  Uses project management principles to accomplish goals, seeks out appropriate resources and proactively anticipates change within the market, industry and healthcare system. Aligns services with the mission and vision of Carilion. Translates Carilion goals into department specific objectives and priorities.  
  • Ensures RCM functions related to billing, insurance follow-up activities, payment processing, technical support, collections, application support functions, training and quality management functions are efficient by establishing standards to evaluate staff performance regularly. Responsible for assuring that processes are up-to-date, thorough operating procedures are in place for all programs in order to effectively support patient needs and organizational requirements, and maintaining staff communication of process and procedure changes. 

This position reports to the Director of Hospital Billing and will focus on Accounts Receivable management and oversight for Anthem, Workers Comp and Auto teams. Remote work on a hybrid schedule is possible after appropriate onboarding/training. Training can take + 6 months. Office presence is required to support and provide oversight and leadership to the team.

What We Require:


Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration/related field or 8 years equivalent experience required. 

Experience: Five years of experience in office/insurance medical or hospital billing with three years minimum experience in leadership/management required.  

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: CPC desired. 

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills, report generation and proficient computer system knowledge. Actively participates in appropriate professional organizations. Excellent skills in complex analytic problem solving, project management, change management, strategic thinking, team building, group processes, conflict resolution and budget management. Demonstrated ability to define the strategy of and provide overall direction to a specified area. Understanding of Federal and State regulations regarding billing.
