TSG Applications Manager

Job Summary

Maintains technology strategies by managing staff, researching and implementing technological strategic solutions.  Implements and maintains the policies and goals for TSG to support Carilion’s needs. Ensures proper information system operations and plans necessary upgrades. Directly responsible for the creation and delivery of development plans for staff to ensure the needs of the business are met.  Oversees internal IT support functions.

Responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing the relationship between the customer and TSG to ensure desired levels of service are maintained.  Manages and maintains a staff of customer service focused, highly trained and motivated staff.  Must be able to conceptualize, develop, and implement complex processes and technologies to increase efficiency, integration and interoperability.  Responsible for developing and recommending strategic plans in conjunction with director.  Prepares written reports on a routine basis including project and cost analysis, progress notes, status meetings, metrics and project recaps.  Vigilantly managing capital and operating budgets, as well as exemplifying service excellence is required.  Work environment includes hospital areas, TSG computer room and office settings.  Must be conscience of all operational and safety procedures.  Rotating shifts, including after hours on-call and working weekends or irregular long hours as well as occasional overnight travel.

Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited: 
  • Accomplishes positive staffing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; develops personal growth opportunities and development plans for continued employee growth.
  • Maintains TSG’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organizational outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
  • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
  • Proactively identifies areas of improvement (process or technical) and develops plans for associated changes required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Business or equivalent work experience required.
 

Experience: Minimum of 8 years of IT experience and a minimum of 2 years of management experience including direct supervision of staff level resources.
 

Licensure,certification, and/or registration:

Valid Virginia drivers' license and dependable transportation.

 ITIL Foundation Certification

 

Other: Must be analytical, dependable, and detail oriented.  Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have a command of the English language (both written and oral).  Must demonstrate solid leadership and presentation skills. Must be self-initiated, have excellent problem-solving skills, and be customer service oriented.
