Job Summary

Carilion Clinic - Technology Services Group (TSG) is seeking an Scrum Master to join our TSG team in Roanoke, VA. You will be responsible for promoting and supporting Scrum methodologies and ensuring the Scrum teams understand Scrum theory, practices, rules and values. You will interface with the other solutions delivery teams and serve as the focal point for escalation. 

Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited: 

  • Accountable for the creation and implementation of best practice IT Scrum Master processes and procedures to aid and improve operational stability.  
  • Leads and coaches the organization in its Scrum adoption.
  • Leads and coaches the Scrum team to deliver high value projects and removes impediments. Assists the team in understanding the need for clear and precise backlog items.
  • Facilitates daily scrums, standups, and like meetings to monitor project progress and resolve any issues the team experiences.
  • Responsible for the Scrum Artifacts and helping the team to maintain their scrum tools (Story Board, Action Board, Charts, Backlog)
  • Ensures milestones are reached and deadlines are met throughout the project lifecycle. Keeps stakeholders and product/business owners informed.
  • Responsible for reporting on problems and measuring KPIs for success.
  • Works in a professional manner with vendors, clients and TSG personnel regarding IT services. 
  • Demonstrates advanced organizational, oral/written communication skills including presentations to all levels of staff.
  • Influences staff to promote IT services to increase efficiency, integration and promotes interoperability.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school degree required. Associates/Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare, business or equivalent experience required.  Master’s degree preferred.  

Experience: Minimum of eight years of related experience is required. Advanced knowledge of office automation software (word processing, spreadsheets, email and presentation software) required.

Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Maintain application vendor certifications as needed.  ITIL V3 Foundation Certification required. Valid VA driver’s license.  PMP preferred.

  • Must be a self-initiated team player that can work under little supervision, with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting and serve as a mentor to others in the department. 
  • Must be capable of prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication, presentation and problem solving skills required.
  • Will require on-call for coverage.
  • Primary business hours Monday-Friday with weekend, holiday and on call coverage as needed.
  • Occasional overnight travel required.
