Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School graduate. Graduate of approved Surgical Technology Program. Completion/graduate of an approved Surgical First Assist Program required. Eligible to register as a Surgical Technologist with the VA Department of Health Professions required: Provide to the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor one of the two following documents: A current credential as a certified surgical technologist; or Successful completion of a surgical technologist training program during the applicant’s service as a member any branch of the armed forces of the United States.


Experience: Two years’ experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist in Cardiothoracic Surgery required to include endovascular vein harvesting.

Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Certified in Surgical Technology (CST) required. Surgical First Assist certification (SFA) required. AHA-BLS-HCP certification from the American Heart Association is required

Other Minimum Qualifications: Satisfactory completion of structured orientation program.
