Wellness Client Development Manager

Job Summary

The Client Development Manager (CDM) works closely with a multi-disciplinary internal team at Carilion Clinic including wellness, occupational health, employee assistance program, community health and outreach, and family and community medicine. The CDM will work to market and sell these wellness and healthcare service lines to local employers looking to implement healthy lifestyle education and opportunities as well as onsite healthcare accessibility for their employee population.


The CDM will focus on outreach to new businesses, understanding each potential client’s needs, demonstrating the value of Carilion services, and establishing new partnerships.  Successful candidates will be able to work independently to effectively build, manage, and maintain sales pipeline and will keep track of progress utilizing internal CRM software (Salesforce).  The CDM is expected to meet specific outreach, meeting, and close goals on a monthly basis and will be able to provide regular reporting on realistic revenue projections.  Additionally, the CDM will partner with the Director of Client Services to ensure new clients are successfully onboarded and that client’s goals and expectations are met (or exceeded).

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree or eight years experience, preferably with a background in health field like nutrition, nursing, public health, health promotion, or other related field.

Experience:  Two or more years of experience in developing community partnerships and/or securing new business opportunities required.

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Knowledge of theories and principles of community and occupational health preferred. Experience developing partnerships with local organizations and service providers. Experience building and managing a sales pipeline; must be able to conduct outreach via multiple channels (phone, email, marketing, and other creative methods) to establish contact with potential clients.  Experience working with CRM software and knowledge of activity required to meet revenue targets.  Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences and abilities.  Ability to develop, track and manage program budgets.  Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary internal team.
