Job Summary
The Clinic Practice Manager II provides a positive, rewarding and service oriented work environment which supports high quality patient centered care, an exceedingly competent and engaged staff, and the achievement of fiscal, score card and process improvement goals and objectives.  The Clinic Practice Manager II also monitors and implements new health care services and performance improvement initiatives.  Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
 

Applies key financial concepts and analysis to decision making.  Develops and implements actionable work plans with measurable outcome.  Continually assesses and reallocates resources to meet demands.

  1. Responsible for overseeing day to day operations of a unit or department as it relates to scorecard goals and objectives.  Organizes, manages, and controls departmental functions and resources in a collaborative and participative manner for optimal performance of service.
  2. Proactively identifies and implements cost containment initiatives. 
  3. Coordinates resources to provide adequate staffing for department.  Demonstrates effective team building and leadership skills. Establishes day-to-day priorities and directs staff task assignments.  Facilitates team in problem solving processes.


Holds self and team accountable for maintaining the highest possible performance standards in order to serve customers (patients, employees, physicians, colleagues).

  1. Maintains productive, collaborative relationships with physicians, other members of the management team and pre- and post-hospital providers.
  2. Monitors and evaluates customer satisfaction with services valuing our customer perspective.  Collaboratively implements programs to continuously enhance customer satisfaction.


Assures the effective and timely delivery of high quality patient-centered services. Recognizes and acts on opportunities for growth and improvement to advance goals of the organization. Utilizes project management principles to accomplish goals, seeks out appropriate resources, and proactively anticipates change within area of responsibility. Translates goals into department specific objectives and priorities.

  1. Communicates appropriate information to stakeholders in an ongoing, timely, and accurate fashion. Establishes forums to engage in open, honest, and proactive two-way communication. 
  2. Establishes and continuously evaluates unit processes and reporting procedures to ensure achievement. Revises as needed. 


Inspires enthusiasm and builds support for projects.  Attracts, selects, develops, and retains qualified employees, and is effective in utilizing developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.

Responsible for compliance with applicable regulatory, licensure and accrediting standards where applicable (The Joint Commission, CLIA, COLA, OSHA, AAAHC, etc).

Minimum Qualifications

Position will be part of a management team covering eight current VC sites. Coverage of Salem site care team with other shared management responsibilities, including supervision of support staff possible. Call is required and shared with team. Clinical practice required and full clinical patient care competency required. Urgent Care experience preferred. Ambulatory supervisory experience desired. Flexibility to meet patient care and site needs required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of equivalent experience required.

Experience: 3 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Business Management experience desired. Experience in Occupational Medicine and Urgent Care services highly desired.

Licensure/Certification and/or Registration:
  Virginia R.N. license required. Certification in Occupational Medicine services desired.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting, organizational and work competency skills. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Access and Power Point. Ability to use electronic medical records.  Will work as part of the high energy VelocityCare Manager team providing excellent quality and an outstanding patient experience. Successful candidate will be responsible for growing the site business volume and meeting financial and customer service goals. Successful candidate will embrace the Carilion Clinic mission and values while establishing a highly successful Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine site serving the needs of the local community, traveling public, and the transportation industry. Excellent customer service skills and team leadership skills are required. Clinical skills and competencies with the ability to cover clinical functions and services is required.


Manager is responsible for operational and financial performance of an urgent care team providing an excellent patient experience. Position is responsible for meeting patient care, operational, and financial goals. Position is also a part of a larger manager team coordinating operations of multiple urgent care sites using effective team work and collaboration. Call is required. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, team building, team management, business, financial, and operational skills are required. Clinical hours are required and additional clinical hours to ensure patient care and business requirements of the site may be required. Urgent care and occupational medicine experience highly desired. Excellent clinical skills required. Travel to meetings, educational opportunities, and to cover operational requirements of management team is required and variable. Position may require after hours, weekend and holiday hours.
