How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
Provides therapeutic services, including adjunctive therapy modalities and group therapy to all levels of care. These can include music, horticulture, recreation therapies as well as educational groups such as stress management. Therapist also serves as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and assesses data reflective of the patient’s status.
- Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic interventions suited for inpatient and outpatient psychiatric patients.
- Organizes, implements and supervises groups and activities utilizing a variety of therapy skills suited for psychiatric patients.
- Works as a member of the treatment team towards the implementation and completion of the patient’s treatment plan.
- Documents interactions with patients in the medical record including completion of the Therapeutic Recreation Assessment, progress notes and treatment plans.
- Works cooperatively with other members of the Clinical Programs Department and treatment team, provides coverage and arranges coverage when needed.
- Participates in departmental and system wide in-service educational opportunities and completes the required yearly system education requirement. Independently participates in continuing education to maintain the appropriate professional credential.
What We Require:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of adjunctive therapy experience required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Thereapeutic Recreation Specialist certification required. De-escalation training much be successfully completed within one year of hire and then maintained going forward. Must be able to obtain AGA BLS-HCP.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Meets documented age specific criteria to provide crisis assessment services to adult, child and adolescent clients/patients. Excellent communication and customer service skills required. Strong computer skills required. Must be flexible and be willing to work as a team player. Must possess ability to appropriately handle/restrain patients who may be disruptive and/or physically violent. Must be willing and able to learn medical terminology and clinical procedures. Experience/skills may be gained through on-the-job training and in-services as indicated.
