How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

This position will support Roanoke area education facilitators.

Serves as Education Leader and Role Model:

Supervises any combination of consultants, generalists, specialists, team leaders, analysts, assistants, and administrative support. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these individuals and their functions for the assigned areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including hiring/separation processes, performance management, recognition and employee relations.

Develops and monitors departmental goals, performance improvement activities, operational budgets, peer benchmark strategies, and operational excellence standards.

Develops and retains talent using developmental plans, growth opportunities, and coaching. Role models behaviors and provides continual guidance, including positive and constructive feedback. Provides appropriate stretch assignments to recognize strengths and foster growth in areas for improvement.

Helps ensure the department's success and direct reports by setting goals that relate department objectives to the larger organization and effectively communicating with the team. Supports the work team by actively working to remove barriers to collaboration and recognizing successes.

Ensures understanding of how Clinical Education/unit goals align with overall Carilion objectives. Proactively considers operations and processes that may be created or revised to support organizational goals and objectives.
Partners with peers and other Carilion leaders to provide quality, timely, and thoughtful services and resolve colleagues' and customers' needs.
Provides expertise as a project manager or team member for various initiatives. May also serve on work teams that include peers from across the organization. Ensures that all appropriate communications occur to peers, both internal and external to clinical education.
Ensures ongoing evaluation of department priorities in relation to current Carilion goals and objectives.


Oversee the Development of Educational Programs:
Design and develop educational materials, including brochures, presentations, and online content, tailored to diverse audiences.
Create and implement training and professional development programs for healthcare professionals.


Assess Educational Needs:
Assess the educational needs of different populations through surveys, focus groups, and other assessment tools.
Customize educational programs based on the specific needs and preferences of the target audience.


Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
Assess and incorporate continuing education requirements and healthcare regulations.
Keep up-to-date with evidence-based practice to drive education programs


Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals:
Work closely with key stakeholders to identify educational needs and develop relevant content.
Provide support and resources to the education team to enhance their teaching and communication skills.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Provide mentoring and coaching to support staff development and advancement


Monitor and Evaluate Program Effectiveness:
Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and make necessary adjustments based on feedback and outcomes.
Prepare reports and documentation on program performance and impact.


Stay Current with Healthcare Trends:
Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in healthcare, medical research, and educational techniques.
Integrate new information and best practices into educational programs.

What We Require:


Education: BSN required, Master’s degree in nursing leadership or education perfered.

Experience: Two years of leadership experience required & must have 3 years of current acute care experience as an RN. Must have passion for teaching nurses and a desire to stay competent in nursing skills. Must have knowledge/experience in nursing principles and theory, skills in applying adult learning principles, assessment and evaluation skills, skills in interpreting complex data, knowledge of evidence-based nursing, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and Virginia nursing licensure requirements. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, project management skills, time management skills, organizational skills, training skills, customer service skills, and strong follow up skills. Must be able to think critically, be creative and have the ability to take initiative to improve processes. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be a team player.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or new graduate of approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam. Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) or Nurse Educator (CNE) certification preferred.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required and must be maintained. May be required to obtain/maintain, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Must be able to meet essential job functions
