Carilion Clinic is excited to offer a paid Medical Assistant – Certified Applicant program to start on April 7th. This is a 8-week program that will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to take the Medical Assistant Certification exam.  Employment as part of this program is expected to last six weeks.  Students will be Carilion Clinic employees and paid for their time in this program. Those that earn their certification will be placed into a full-time position at Carilion Clinic and those that do not obtain their certification within the allotted timeframe will not be guaranteed employment.

Program Information/Requirements: 
•    MA-C Applicant program starts on April 7th 
•    Interested applicants are encouraged to apply ASAP – as rolling interviews will be conducted
•    This is a Full Time, Monday through Friday, day shift position
•    Must pass required background checks 

Must be and have been resident of Virginia for the last 12 months.

Must have own mode of transportation.

What We Require:

Education: Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or any agency recognized by the US Department of Education, or comparable military training and experience preferred.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration:

Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists (CMA-Certificate), The National Association of Healthcare Professions, or the National Healthcareer Association. May be hired on a provisional status once the applicant receives the letter confirming they have taken the certification exam and have a provisional passing score.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Must attend the CMA cohort sessions. Effective communication skills in order to work with the public. Computer skills to utilize database systems to perform job duties required. Must be able to problem-solve. Keyboarding required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
