Pharmacy Tech Lead (Admixture)- day/evening

The Certified Pharmacy Technician Lead works under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist to provide services to Pharmacy customers. The Lead Pharmacy Technician supports the Pharmacist in providing Pharmaceutical Care. The main areas of responsibility include the listed lead responsibilities over one or more of the following areas: Medication Distribution, Sterile Product Preparation, Inventory Control, Medication Assistance Program coordinator, Retail Pharmacy.
 

• Assists with directing and supporting technician’s daily work flow
• Orients and trains staff on responsibilities and work flow
• Provides input for and assists with technician performance improvement discussions
• Provides input for disciplinary actions
• Provides input for staff performance appraisals 
• Assists with preparation and maintenance of technician work schedule
• Ensure staff licensure is current and displayed per BOP guidelines
• Provides support and troubleshooting to all staff members

What We Require:

Education:  A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.

Experience: Three years of experience as a pharmacy technician with 1 year previous work experience in the desired area of the lead position. Opening  is required. Previous staff management or other management experience preferred.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician is required within 9 months of hire

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail/accuracy. Must be customer service oriented. Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Critical thinking and problem solving skills will be utilized. Must be able to effectively budget time (of self and other technicians), work efficiently and accurately and follow procedures with minimum supervision. All Technicians must complete Orientation Competencies. IV admixture technicians must complete a course of instruction in sterile product preparation and demonstrate competency.
