As part of the health care team, The RN Applicant assumes primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. Utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

Progressive care nursing is an integral part of Carilion nursing. In keeping with our mission to provide high-quality, patient-centered care, Carilion Clinic has established a unique Progressive Care R.N. Fellowship Program. Through extensive orientation and educational opportunities that go beyond a set of essential core nursing competencies, we help prepare our nurses for opportunities in three different tracks: Clinical, leadership, or education. This program is designed to promoted sound competency, professional development, nursing engagement and mentorship. Candidates are eligible for the fellowship upon successful completion of the R.N. Residency Program.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing.

Experience: N/A

Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or new graduate of approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.  Must obtain /maintain CPR.  May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc. Keyboarding skills required for automate computer systems, including electronic medical records.  Must be able to meet essential job functions.

Career Advancement Program:  RNs are eligible to participate in the Career Advancement Program (CAP) to attain various levels of advancement.  Levels are determined by achievements as outlined in the CAP Scoring Sheet, which is part of the RN performance appraisal.
